In August 2021, I debuted djSwade Radio on Pandora and I started featuring my favorite songs in my blog. My only criteria for picking these songs is that I really enjoy them. It doesn't matter to me whether they're old or new as long as they groove.
According to their bio on Pandora, Röyksopp is a Norwegian duo - Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge - that started in the early 2000s. They've had huge success in their home country and have also achieved international success. They released their last album in 2013, but have continued to put out music connected to various projects. Pandora characterizes their music as having ambient soundscapes, new age influences, danceable beats, straight drum beats and the use of chordal patterning.
I like to keep things simple. The main feature I want in my music is something that I enjoy. "In Space" definitely meets that criteria. This song is from their 2001 debut album Melody A.M. It has a great groove to it, with a straightforward, syncopated beat. Sitting atop that beat are nice, soothing keys that set the rhythm and also weave a soothing melody. I would describe the overall feel as hopeful and calming. I like to put this on when I want to concentrate or focus. It's also a great tune if I want to bring my pulse down a bit or contemplate the day.
I highly recommend this song. You can hear it on djSwade Radio. You can also click the direct link to the song and artist.
